Sahaja: No Mind

The fundamental discovery in non-duality is that you do not exist; to realize this is known as enlightenment. Nagarjuna wrote at length, demonstrating logically how this can be verified to be the truth, and—for those who would know—how not any thing else, including the universe, is any more real than you are.

In such a universe, which appears to an unreal viewer as an illusion, not anything is happening which has any more reality than a dream. Not any thing which apparently happens in a dream world is important. In fact, not anything really matters, in any ultimate way.

This is the realization of those who are awakened to sunyata, the Sanskrit word for emptiness. Where there is no self, there is no mind: an empty self – as empty as all else in an illusive universe—results in an empty mind. An empty mind, obviously is not filled with “problems”.

In other words, when you truly come to understand that your own life is simply an impermanent fiction, and the world and universe playing out in the background are equally so, what problem could there be that has any more lasting significance than this? As a dying friend said, “Don’t sweat the small stuff—and it’s all small stuff.”

Or, more directly, as Krishnamurti said in explaining how he is different from other people, “I don’t care what happens.”
