Nothing Replaces Illusion
I understand your question. In A Thousand Names for Joy and in a lengthy interview with John Parker, Byron Katie describes what she calls a life-changing realization.
Parker: You said that nothing exists…. It’s all an illusion.
Katie: Exactly.
Parker: …the world and the cosmos disappear.
Katie: It doesn’t exist to disappear.
Parker: What replaces it?
Katie: Nothing, nothing.
Parker: That which is not present in deep dreamless sleep is not real.
Katie: Of course it’s not real. It’s nothing…the ‘I’ is the origin of the whole universe.
The Self-realized person answers the first question concerning the inquiring ‘I’: Is it true? Is there an I?
